Help with recording, transcripts, summaries and managing your data. Start here or contact the developer below.

Get started

  1. Use iOS 27 or later on an iPhone that supports on-device transcription.
  2. Open a new recording in Talkleaf, choose a transcription language and wait for any required language data to be ready.
  3. Allow microphone access and start recording. Choose to display text while recording if you want to follow along.
  4. Choose Stop and save, then open the saved recording to revisit its transcript and summary.

Talkleaf is preparing for its App Store release. TestFlight access requires an invitation.

Troubleshooting

I can’t start recording

Allow microphone access for Talkleaf in your iPhone settings and check available storage. If language data is being prepared, stay connected until it finishes. If another app is using the microphone, finish its recording or call and try again.

Transcription isn’t progressing

Check that the selected language is available on your device and any required download has finished. Keep Talkleaf in the foreground and follow any processing or retry messages. Retrying transcription may replace text you edited, so export anything you need first.

Summaries are unavailable

Summaries require an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone, the necessary settings and an available model. Availability depends on your device, language and model readiness. Check that transcription has finished. Some content, such as very short transcripts, may not be suitable for a summary.

My summary is marked out of date

The transcript was edited after the summary was created. Recreate the summary to use the current text. Out-of-date summaries are excluded from Markdown exports.

How do I copy or export?

In a recording’s details, copy a sentence, the entire transcript or the entire summary. The export menu lets you share a transcript as .txt, or a summary and timestamped transcript as Markdown.

A transcript or summary contains mistakes

Audio quality and content can affect results. Tap a sentence to hear the recording from that point and edit the transcript if needed. Check important details against the original audio.

How do I delete or restore a recording?

Swipe left on a recording, choose Delete and confirm deletion of its audio, transcript and summary. There is no in-app undo. The developer does not hold copies of your recordings and cannot restore them remotely.

Languages, internet access and backups

The interface supports Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean. Speech recognition and summary language support depend on your device and models. Talkleaf is not a translation app. Transcription and summaries run on your device, but initial language data or model downloads need internet access. There is no app-specific cloud sync; device backups follow your iOS settings.

Do not send recordings, transcript contents or other people’s personal information. Remove personal details from screenshots before attaching them. Public posts can be seen by others; include only a general description of the issue.

If recordings won’t open, deleting or reinstalling the app can cause data loss. Export important content where possible and tell us what happened.
